We came we saw… and the wind didn’t blow

Ced:
Is it a curse or what? Every single kite event I attend… no wind!
Myself and fellow team rider Michelle left Cannon Rocks 2 weeks ago to take part in the Down wind dash in Langebaan, South Africa.
As we got to Cape Town, Michelle had organized some accommodation with friends and literally stepped out of the car and onto the beach

Michelle:

I’ve just arrived from my extended two-week holiday in Cape Town – where the wind blew everyday except the weekend of the downwind dash – the reason why I came. I started off with some kite surfing in Langebaan and Strand with Stefan and Oswald Smith and then stayed with Anthony Berzack in Kitebeach and kitesurfed there a bit.

Ced:
At first, I stayed on the peninsula side of Cape Town enjoying amazing sessions with friends and then joined Michelle in tableview.
It’s always a bit of a shock dealing with the crowds… We kited practically everyday. And when we didn’t kite we hung out and got into the Cape town swing of things…

We did get to Langebaan on the Friday, But Saturday the wind disappeared. The comp was postponed to the 5th and 6th of Feb. Unfortunately we’ll miss that…

Michelle:

When I wasn’t kitesurfing I enjoyed my first kauai experience, met a lot of new people and learnt to juggle…Cape Town also taught me a whole new meaning of ‘strong wind’. I entered the Wednesday night racing and the wind was about 35knots+ gusting more…

Ced:

Unfortunately I couldn’t take part in the Wednesday night racing in Tableview. Seems like the guys are getting super competitive!
I did worry about Michelle when I saw the wind coming through in it’s unmistakable Cape Town Style. Well, she survived.

Michelle:

Although I really enjoyed Cape Town and am now having extreme withdrawal symptoms, I did miss Cannon Rocks and I can’t wait to get back in my local waters…  I am now currently training for a competition next month in Port Elizabeth.

Glad to be back home. Have some friends coming to visit and a few things to film. Look out for the next Video!

Lovin’ it, Livin’ it….

What an amazing 2 weeks!

Arrived from Cape Town to be greeted by awesome winds changing from east to west. From mellow to strong. Some great waves and lots of friendly faces.

Hooked up with Anthony Berzack and did a few awesome downwinds and wave riding sessions…

I should have filmed but ended up just kiting. It was just too much fun.

Thanks to Richard Homboe, Mellisa Smith and Henry Smith, I have some pics to show…

Time away from civilization gave me a chance to edit some footage from last year’s travels… I have posted a video on Youtube:

As I look into this new year, I see beaches, wind, good times and music… Gotta love it!

No Cape Town Blues

to the dark side of the sun...
to the dark side of the sun...

After 2 months in the City Cape Town… where the wind season hasn’t really been great so far, HOME… 7 hours of kiting on the first day. Muscles ache. So nice to be away from the crowds, to have the infinite horizons, no quite all to myself, but almost…
A few downwinds are on the cards. Gonna film some new footage with the new Chargers very soon.
1st day was between 18 and 25 knots, just couldn’t get enough.
Reconnecting, making new friends.
And I’m just getting started!

Some new tricks, some new places and a whole lotta fun to be had! Bring it on…

No time to waste
